Committees
By Jennifer Norton, AMS®
Now that we are in the transition stage, we would
like to establish committees for Arcadia Park Homeowners
Association.
Committees serve two purposes:
First, they assist the board in meeting its responsibilities
by gathering information and making recommendations.
Second, they broaden the community’s input on decisions by
serving as a means of gathering residents’ opinions and attitudes.
Typical committees include:
Architectural
Committee -
Recommends architectural standards for board adoption; establishes
procedures for submission, review, and approval/denial of
architectural plans; and enforces architectural standards.
Budget/Finance
Committee - Establishes
procedures for receiving input into the budgeting process, conducts
research and analysis in preparation and support for the proposed
budget, and submits formal budget proposals for board consideration. It also monitors association finances.
Communications
Committee -
Recommends standards and policies for board adoption; establishes
procedures for generation, review and approval of the newsletter
copy; and establishes mechanisms for production and distribution of
the newsletter. It also
recommends standards and policies for board adoption and content of
the webpage.
Community/Government - Works with City officials to keep Association
informed on governmental and city issues surrounding the area.
It also brings issues of importance that impact the
neighborhood to the city’s attention.
CC&R’s/Bylaws
Committee - Reviews
current documents to determine changes that may need to be made and
makes recommendations to the Board.
Social
Committee - Fosters
a sense of community. It
establishes a process for identifying the needs and desires of the
community, develops programs to meet those needs, and monitors and
oversees social programs.
Welcoming Committee - Is
a good tool for stimulating social interaction, seeking the
involvement of new residents in activities and governance of the
association, and for providing information about the community.
If you are interested, please fill out and mail
volunteer form on the last page of the printed newsletter, to
the address on the form. If
you did not receive a newsletter, please contact the editor.
