Transition Complete
By Frank Traylor

The Arcadia Park Homeowners Association has been transitioned over to the homeowners of Arcadia Park.  A quorum was present on the 4th of January and the voting took place.  The Board of Directors now consists of Charlie Reed (President), Marcie Sylvester (Treasurer), Randal Nowicki, Dick Koch and myself.  The process is in place to shore up committees so that they may be announced during the Board Meeting on the 6th of February.

I personally would like to extend my thanks to everyone that has been involved, attended meetings, stayed informed and have participated in the election.

All those that have been elected are dedicated to serve the interests that we all share.  But ultimately, it is going to be the responsibility of you, the Association Member, to ensure that your interests are being addressed.  To do this, you must solicit feedback, attend the annual meetings at a minimum and stay informed through reading the newsletter.  For those that use email, you may express your input through that medium.  Feel free to email newsletter@arcadiapark.net on any issue.

Although we have a clean slate to work with, there are some outstanding issues that have to be addressed.  If there are some items that you would like to have attention given to, or have ideas that you would like to see entertained, again, send an email or contact our manager, Jennifer Norton and she’ll ensure that your issues are addressed.

Thanks again and I look forward to serving our interests on the Board of Directors.    §

Pearls of Wisdom
Tips to Ensure a Happy Community Association Experience

Be a Good Homeowner:

  • Review the documents before you buy your home

  • Read them again when you move in

  • Pay your assessments

  • Attend the annual meeting

  • Read the newsletter and the minutes

  • Follow the rules

  • Serve on a committee

  • Serve on the board

  • Don’t expect someone else to do it for you

  • Remember that you are a member of the association.  What is good for it, is good for you

Be a Good Neighbor:

  • Love thy neighbor

  • Respect thy neighbor

  • Curb thy dog

  • Don’t play the stereo too loud

  • Don’t be a six-car family

  • Clean up after yourself

  • Take care of your property

  • Help form a neighborhood watch

Ways to Destroy the Association:

  •  Stay away from meetings.  Show up at meetings only if you have a problem or complaint

  • Decline office or appointment to any committee.  Then, get angry if you are not nominated
  • Insist on describing the association in negative terms only.  Never prepare an agenda, never plan the details of an event and never coordinate with affiliates

  • Don’t do any association work if you can avoid it.  Then, when the old reliables pitch in and get the job done, accuse them of being a clique.

  • If you do go to a meeting, don’t speak until the meeting is finished.  Then, criticize and say how things should have been handled.

  • Oppose all new programs as being a waste of membership’s money.

  • When nothing new happens, complain that the officers lack imagination

  • Read your bulletins infrequently.  Then, complain that you don’t know what’s going on.
